Ralph Covert
Covert first came to public attention with his pop rock band The Bad
Examples, who released 6 critically acclaimed albums and toured
extensively in America and Europe in the '90s. For the last five years
Covert has generated considerable excitement with his children's music
project, Ralph's World. His sixth children's CD, The Green Gorilla,
Monster, and Me comes out this fall. Ralph's World concerts this summer
include shows in the Chicago area at Northley Island and Ravinia, as
well as in Canada and throughout America. Covert has also collaborated
with G. Riley Mills in the theater world, co-writing a number of plays
including Sawdust and Spangles (Joseph Jefferson Citation winner for
Best New Work in 1997) and Streeterville (Joseph Jefferson Citation
winner for Best New Work in 2000), as well as the rock and roll circus
musical The Flower Thieves, featuring the acrobatics of Chicago's
acclaimed Midnight Circus. Mills and Covert's newest collaboration is a
children's musical adaptation of The Nutcracker, entitled A Nutcracker
Christmas, which will be presented in the winter 2005-2006 season by
Emerald City Children's Theater.
