Honus and Me Review

"A" kids, "A" adults

In “Honus and Me,” the delight is in the details of storytelling and presentation. From the moment you enter the house and join the cast in a freewheeling game of pre-game catch, you're in a timeless pool of play, tossing baseballs, ideas and memories, all on a summer afternoon in 2007 … and 1909.

Joey Stoshack – the “Me” in “Honus and Me” – always makes his team's last out; the lovable mess-up who strikes out in the clutch. The Honus Wagner baseball card Joey finds in an elderly neighbor's attic isn't just worth $2 million, and it isn't just the magic time-travel ticket that brings Honus into his life. It's the plot twist that gives this dynamic cast and director boundless opportunities to rush us around a century of changes and to contemplate what hasn't changed (kid + parent + ball still equal the sweet spot).

Seeing Joey get so good made me want to be like him. One reason Joey improves is because his teammates have faith in him and encourage him to hit the ball. My favorite part is when he hits a home run during the 1909 World Series.

My favorite part of the play is when Joe hits an “inside-the-park” home run during the World Series. This is my favorite part because Joe finds out he can play baseball better than before. I'd highly recommend this play for baseball fans. It was fun to play ball with the actors before the play began.
