Share Your Story 2: Jack L. and Lauren
Here are some more stories from our Share Your Story feature! The first is from Jack L., an audience member who wrote in to tell us what happened to him, what he wishes he would have done, and what he'll do next time. We also have a story from Lauren Patten, who plays Wanda in our show.
Jack's Story:
When I was in 4th grade, I always saw this kid who was picked on by his class. I wanted to say something, but I was in a Maddie situation!! I just couldn't!!! Now, he has switched schools. I wish I had the chance to stick up for him. If I could have a do-over and help him, I WOULD. So, next time, I will stick up for anyone who is being picked on.
Lauren's Story:
In 6th grade, I was friends with a group of girls who weren't in the popular crowd, but I also made friends with some girls that were more popular. I really loved having lots of different friends and not feeling limited to one group. But when I switched to home-schooling after 6th grade, some people decided they didn't need to be friends with me anymore. That summer, the popular group stopped talking to me. I saw them hanging out and went over to say hi and talk to them, and they actually ran away. They were not real friends. But my other group of friends still cared about me and still wanted to be with me.
The friends that like you for who you are, are the ones you want around in your life.
---------------------------------------------------------So, after reading those stories, think about this question:
What can you do to be a better friend, even to students you don't know very well?
