The CTA... Chicago Transit Authority... the "L"... buses... trains... subways... a shared experience among most Chicagoans. However, did you know that those bus ads that you see everyday have a name? When the idea to advertise on the CTA buses was first proposed, I received a lesson on bus advertising. Queens, kings, headlights, taillights, fullbacks, partial wraps, full wraps, headliners, interiors... the list goes on. I was excited - I knew that as a Graphic Design Fellow for Chicago Children's Theatre I would play a key role in the creation of these advertisements. And I also knew that they would be displayed across the city, acting as a mobile billboard for CCT. I was ready for the challenge.
It's a privilege to work for a small theatre company with big ideas and dreams for the children of Chicago . Marketing our latest production, If All the World were Paper, on the CTA buses was just one of the ways that we are trying to reach the broader Chicago community. So next time you're bored sitting on the bus, look up... or when you're stuck in traffic behind a bus, check out the taillight ad - you might just see these Chicago Children's Theatre "If All the World were Paper" advertisements!
