From the Desk of: TIM

Howdy! I'm Tim Speicher, Artistic Assistant for Chicago Children's Theatre. My job allows me to explore a number of creative avenues, from casting to literary management to production. But my favorite part of my job is designing materials for students and teachers to prepare them for a CCT show. Last season, I developed "The Californian," the newspaper for Esperanza Rising, as an educational tool. For If All the World were Paper, I have put together fun, creative, interesting educational activities with the help of our Artistic Intern, Elizabeth Schmeski. Our motto is: if our activities don't capture us while we're creating them, they won't captivate our young audiences, either.

For If All the World were Paper, we are focusing on the ideas of transformation, cooperation, and recycling. Our Teacher Guide covers all three aspects with individual activities such as coloring and drawing, and group activities like making puppets and recycled paper. We're also exploring language skills with an activity for students to create their own stories for Paper Girl and Doodle (two of Paper's characters) through simple Mad-Lib-style biographies.
