Our next production is Honus and Me, playing July 20 through August 26 at The Goodman Theatre. It's about baseball hall-of-famer Honus Wagner. To prepare for this show, we've been thinking a lot about baseball. As Chicagoans, baseball plays an important role in our identity. Either you're a Cubs fan or a White Sox fan, and the cross-town classics are some of the most exciting weekends of the summer.

So how does this relate to our play? The main character in the show, Joe Stoshak, is a huge baseball fan. He is lucky enough to find a T-206 Honus Wagner baseball card while cleaning his neighbor's attic. Before you know it, the card takes on magical powers and Honus Wagner himself is taking Joey to the 1909 World Series!

Baseball is a game of statistics. So to help understand this, we've posted a little information about two basic stats that baseball fans like Joey Stoshak use when talking about baseball players. You can learn more about them by clicking here.

Honus and Me comes from a series called the Baseball Card Adventures by Dan Gutman. He's written a whole set of books in which baseball cards take on their own life to connect modern day with the golden age of baseball. You can make your own Honus Wagner baseball card by clicking here. You'll need to use your creativity and draw a picture of Honus. For some pictures of Honus Wagner, click here.

If anyone out there would like to share their baseball cards or fun baseball stories, from Little League to Big League, from White Sox to Cubs, ad
