Andrew White
White is a founding member of Lookingglass Theatre Company. He served
as artistic director for two years (1990-92), filled a wide variety of
other staff positions over the years, and has acted in more than twenty
Lookingglass productions. White wrote and directed his original
adaptation of George Orwell's 1984 for Lookingglass in their new home
at the Water Tower Water Works, as well as Of One Blood, a play about
the murders of Schwerner, Chaney and Goodman, produced in 1989. In
addition to his work at Lookingglass, he has also appeared in
Winesburg, Ohio and Another Time at Steppenwolf, All the Rage at The
Goodman Theatre and Kids in the Dark at Victory Gardens. Film work
includes Love and Action in Chicago, My Best Friend's Wedding, Since
You've Been Gone and American Anthem, and television credits include
"TV 101,” "Eerie, Indiana," "W.I.O.U." and "Missing Persons." White
teaches and facilitates workshops and classes with students of all ages
through Lookingglass Outreach programs, various non-profit
organizations in the Chicago area, Northwestern University, National
Louis University and the Rehabilitation Institute. Andy has two
children of his own -- Julia and Asher-- who continue to teach him a
great deal on a daily basis.
